Before you start at Meadows
Starting somewhere new can bring a mixture of feelings. You might feel excited, nervous or have lots of questions and that’s OK. Whatever your age, we’ll help you get to know Meadows and feel welcome.
Before joining, you will usually have visited the school and had a taster day. These are opportunities to meet people, look around and begin to picture what your day might be like.
On your first day, you and your parents or carers will meet some of the people who will support you, usually your Tutor and a Link Worker. We call this an ‘Admission Meeting’, but it’s simply a chance to get to know one another, ask questions and talk about what will help you settle in.
You’ll also meet your classmates and get your timetable. There will always be people on hand to explain things and help you find your way so you don’t have to remember everything at once.
We look forward to welcoming you to Meadows School.
Read what some of our students have said about us below.
The most impactful thing Meadows ever did was the support from all the staff. For me, the support meant you didn't have to just rely on yourself. That's what gave me a chance.
Former student
I feel that Meadows has been my second home for the last eleven years. I have felt safe, heard and understood. Meadows' staff have always guided me to take new opportunities to develop my skills and abilities, including helping me get into college. I have just achieved Level 3 Car Mechanics and I will always be grateful to Meadows.
A leaving statement from a 6th form student
I have enjoyed my time at Meadows School. The staff have been kind, helpful and persevered with me and provided a timetable to suit my learning needs and style in a safe environment. Thanks to the support, I have gained my GCSE's, and I am now a more confident person.
