“Knots and Bolts” with Tim Neill

Careers Week
As part of Careers Week at Meadows School, students enjoyed an engaging session with Tim Neill from Tunbridge Wells Repair Café, who shared his diverse career journey and passion for fixing things.
Tim spoke about the roles he’s had in engineering, computers, and racing cars, and demonstrated his practical skills by showing a car he had built and his wife’s guitar that he had repaired. He also highlighted the benefits of volunteering, encouraging students to give back to their community, and shared a bit about his sailing hobby.
Students got hands-on experience when Tim taught them how to tie recognised rope knots, combining fun with practical skills. The session inspired curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation for problem-solving and craftsmanship.
Thank you, Tim, for sharing your expertise, showing the joy of fixing things, and inspiring students to explore practical skills and volunteering!
