Coffee culture hits Meadows

Fancy a brew?
The Food Studies Kitchen raised funding through a special organisation called The Savoy Educational Trust, that allowed Meadows to purchase a professional coffee machine and all the other necessary equipment so that a new qualification could be offered by the school.
The Savoy Educational Trust supports education, training and skills development in hospitality. They have provided Meadows with the opportunity to run a course as part of their Level 2 Open Award in Skills for Further Learning and Employment.
In addition, the Food Studies kitchen has begun recruiting work experience volunteers from the students to be trained as baristas and run an in-house coffee and hot drinks business.
With more experience, it is hoped the students can expand this operation to offer a service for other school-based events that involve the local community.
