Pupil Premium is funding provided by the Government to help schools reduce inequalities for eligible pupils. Funding is available for children in care, children who have been adopted from Local Authority care, children who are eligible for Free School Meals and children from service families.

Schools can use Pupil Premium funding to support a range of projects, interventions and additional provision. This may benefit individual eligible pupils as well as other pupils where the provision supports wider educational needs. Funding may also be combined with the school’s main budget where appropriate.

Schools are required to publish information about the Pupil Premium funding they receive and how it is used. Meadows School’s Pupil Premium Statement, setting out our approach, priorities and planned expenditure, can be read in full below.

Funding for children in care is managed differently. It is allocated through the relevant Local Authority and is usually administered by the Virtual School responsible for the child. The use of this funding is discussed between the school and the relevant Local Authority as part of the pupil’s Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings and is based on the individual needs of the child.

Provision mapping is being developed for potentially eligible pupils to ensure that individual needs and barriers to learning are identified and understood. Pupil Premium funding will be used to provide targeted support according to identified need, which may include additional equipment, 1:1 support and targeted educational support.

The impact of this provision will be monitored and reviewed to ensure that it is making a positive difference to pupils’ learning, progress and wider outcomes. This forms part of the school’s wider approach to inclusion and improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
